Learn to Fly

  • This course is intended for first time drone operators and beginners. It is not intended for already certified Advanced RPAS Pilots, but would be beneficial for Basic RPAS pilots. 

    In this course, you will learn from the ground up. Literally. You will begin with instruction on how to safely inspect and care for your drone and move towards checklists, procedures, and flight. You will find guides to measure your success along the way to ensure you're on track, and resources to make you successful in the future as well. 

    This course is a hands on, 1-on-1 coaching session style in an outdoor setting. There are two one-hour sessions. The overall goal of this course is to ensure that you become a more capable, skillful and knowledgeable pilot than when you arrived and to increase your preparedness to undertake Transport Canada's licensing process.

    You will be learning from one of our Advanced RPAS Certified pilots who will teach you from scratch and teach you the proper way to operate your aircraft so that you, and those around you, are safe. 

    At the end of the course you will received unlimited access to a plethora of resources that are more than worth the cost of this course; they will save you time, money and sanity while also increasing your knowledge base in the field.  

  • When learning how to fly a drone, the controls will become second nature once you know how they operate and interact together to form a complete flying experience.

    This section increases your basic understandings drone maintenance, inspections, and the Roll, Pitch, Yaw, and Throttle controls. 

  • Going through a pre-flight checklist will keep other people, yourself and your drone safe. 

    This section gives an example of an excellent pre-flight checklist. 

  • This section covers beginner maneuvers for flying your drone and drills to practice your skills.

  • Want to ensure you're mastering the necessary skills? This checklist makes sure you're on track to succeed at the next level. 

  • Great! You're now able to fly your drone. But what about getting approval from NAV CANADA or unlocking a geo zone with DJI unlocking requests? This lesson will walk you through those steps. 

  • Now that you know how to fly and how to be approved, let's get you working towards attaining your license(s). Learn about the process with Transport Canada and be ready to take the test!

  • After completion of the course, you will have access to a database of resources that far exceed the value of the course registration in itself.  You will find templates, tips and tricks, waivers, CFS documents, helpful links, checklists, policy and procedures, METAR decoders, contact information, drone site selection tools and more. Again, this access will not expire!
